Judgement calls

Choosing sellers, products and an agent for AnovaBuy orders

The judgement calls before any button: which seller, which listing, which agent, and the traps a first haul should avoid.

Shop signals readable in two minutes

AnovaBuy buys from whoever you choose, and its inspection only catches obvious faults. The seller is your quality filter. Here is how to judge a seller in a couple of minutes on Taobao, 1688 or Weidian:

Seller checklist: store age and rating, recent sales, real photos, a size chart in centimeters, clear stock and dispatch times
Signals of a good seller that anyone can read without speaking Chinese.

Lazy stock updates sit behind most sold-out-after-payment messages. AnovaBuy only treats stock as confirmed once its buyer has asked the seller; the number printed on the listing proves nothing.

What the listing commits to, beyond its photos

How to choose a product listing on a Chinese marketplace comes down to reading what the seller committed to. Photos are the seller's marketing; the options menu and the size chart are the contract.

Product checklist: read option names, compare size chart to your measurements, read material line, check what the price includes
Four checks on the listing itself, before the AnovaBuy product page.

When a listing is unclear, write the question into the AnovaBuy notes box. The buyer contacting the seller can ask before purchasing, which is cheaper than a return.

Judging an agent, AnovaBuy included

How to choose a trustworthy agent is a fair question to ask even on an AnovaBuy handbook. These are the checks we applied, and what we found for AnovaBuy on October 23, 2026.

Agent checks with AnovaBuy results: named companies yes, published fees yes but two figures, storage rules yes, return rules yes, contact emails yes
An agent scorecard without scores: each check and what AnovaBuy publishes.

None of this proves good service on your order; it shows the rules are written down, which is what you need to hold an agent to them.

Things to avoid in a first haul

Most mistakes on a first order are about scale and timing, not about the agent. Watch out for these:

  • Ordering everything at once. A small first order teaches you the screens. Mistakes on a CNY 200 order are cheap.
  • Branded goods you cannot verify. AnovaBuy has a written anti-counterfeiting policy under which it can review, delay or refuse such orders and suspend accounts. Buy unbranded or from official brand stores.
  • Batteries and liquids without a plan. They limit your shipping lines; check your country has a suitable line first.
  • Letting goods sit. The return window closes after five days and free storage after ninety.
  • Chasing coupon thresholds. Most welcome coupons need large orders; buying extra to reach one rarely saves money.
  • Customs surprises. Over 10 kg or many identical items invites a commercial assessment.
Card: a sensible first haul of three to five light items, unbranded, no batteries or liquids, shipped together under 2 kg
